Tara Patty Photography is a boutique photography studio located in the heart of Colorado Springs that specializes in the photography of people: families, maternity, high school seniors, businesses. Capturing the essence of a person is what we do. In the studio or at the location of your choice, each session is tailored to the individual, group or business. We work however long it takes to get a product everyone can be satisfied with. All clients will receive the highest level of attention, devotion and commitment.

We are a member of the Ad Federation of America Colorado Springs chapter board of directors, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Editorial Photographers (EP) Commissioned portraits are something to treasure a lifetime but they don't have to break the bank. We work to not only make the experience pleasurable but an affordable one as well.

Q. What is your style?
A. I'm not a traditional photographer, I like people and I like to have fun in the photo session. Whoever I'm shooting has to feel comfortable — comfortable enough for their real personality to be captured. We have to laugh and they have to relax and have fun! If you are looking for very formally posed images, I can happily recommend someone else in the area.
Q. What About Clothing?
A. Yes, clothing is important, and I love everything from naked babies, to layered looks, to simple high fashion sophistication. You don't always have to wear white or black — color is great when it's mixed correctly. Bold pattern can work, as well, if we are going for something fun.
Q. How do I schedule a session?
A. I do a personal consultation before your Session. I usually prefer that we do this here at our Studio so you can view samples and we can sit down and talk about the feel you want for your images. Of course, if you live out-of-town or can't make it in for a Consultation, we can speak over the phone. This preparation is extremely important and makes the Session day go smoothly.
Q. What types of backgrounds do you have?
A. We have a variety available in studio (see images below). Then of course anywhere in the city on location!
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If for any reason, you must cancel or reschedule, we ask that you do so before 48 hours of your scheduled session.
Q. Should I come early to prepare for my session?
A. No. We set aside plenty of time for you to prepare for the session appropriately in our dressing area. In consideration of the appointments before and after yours, we do ask that you come at your allotted time.
Q. How do I order my pictures?
A. When we schedule your photo session, we'll also schedule an Ordering Session about 1-2 weeks after your session.
Q. What is an Ordering Session?
A. Most clients feel overwhelmed with the ordering process...so many images, so many cool products, so many print sizes to choose from. An ordering session provides the opportunity for us to help you choose the best images and best products to suit your needs. We project the images on a large screen monitor and help you narrow down your favorite images by comparing images side by side and offer our professional advice on various crops, sizes, color effects, etc. You can also see the various photo products we offer, like album portfolios, announcements, canvases and more. A discount on some products are available at the ordering session. It's a casual, low-pressure time to select just the right images for you.
Q. Can I place my order after my projection appointment?
A. You can, however it is more beneficial to you to place your order at your scheduled projection appointment. We offer client incentives on the date the projection is scheduled, if the order is placed after that date, the incentives are void. An archive retrieval fee may be applied to an order placed after the scheduled projection date. We ask that you have all decision makers present for your projection appointment, and have some ideas of where you would like the images displayed in your home, to make the process run smoothly for everyone.
Q. How long will it take for my order to be completed?
A. Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for your order to be completed. Some orders may take longer. We look at your portraits as an investment; an heirloom that we don’t want rushed. Your portraits have been produced with great care using the best materials available in the professional photographic industry. Manufacturers’ recommendation for proper handling of these materials have been followed to ensure permanence. Remember, quality takes time!
Q. What is the difference between a full and a mini session ?
A. A full session is our most popular type of session. We set aside one hour of studio time, offer different background and clothing options and provide a variety of poses to give each session a unique feel. We can capture both posed and candid images. This session is perfect for families, children and clients who want variety to their session and image selection options. A ‘mini’ session is a limited session designed for clients with a focused vision for their photography experience. We set aside 30 minutes for a mini session, offer one background and clothing option and a limited number of images are created. This session is perfect for individuals, pets and couples who only need a few images to select from and will be purchasing only one or two portrait images.
