The Southwestern part of the U.S is full of beautiful
light: magical and ever changing. From the mountains of Colorado to the high deserts of New Mexico the light here is unique. Many photographers refer to this area as the Land of Light due to the intensity, warmth and beauty of light in this part of the world.

The modern history of this area begins in the early 1500s, but the Pueblo people were here hundreds if not thousands of years before. From ancient dwellings to Spanish influenced missions and the rough cowboys, and gold miners of the high ranges, this area has a broad span of history and culture.

The images in this section highlight a portion of the history of the area and hopefully show off some of the effects of the light as well.

Many images in this portfolio are also available in the book Southwest Images an 8x10 hardbound 32 page book with dust cover. Available in the Southwest catalog.
