Most families think about getting a professional portrait created when they first have a child and then off and on the first 3 to maybe 5 or 6 years. Then there is a no mans land of no portraits until the child becomes a high school senior then you go for senior portraits. But what about those years between say 7 and 17? Yes they can be awkward years as your child is developing and maturing but why not capture some great memories during this time period.
But how do you go about planning for such a portrait? There are choices to be made—do you want a full fledged session or maybe a mini session? We do offer mini sessions for children 16 and under. These are a great way to capture those in between years where you want more than a school yearbook portrait but not a full fledged complex session. Mini sessions are 30 minutes with one outfit and one backdrop and only $50 for the session fee. And no limit on number of siblings—it just needs to be accomplished in a shorter time frame.
So if you have more than one child in the teen and tween years bring them and we can do a group session like the siblings above. We will also do breakdowns of them alone so you have options. This avoids you having to schedule multiple sessions then convincing your child that they need to do this. However we actually make it fun so that they kids enjoy themselves—the sessions are short so it makes both parents and kids happy.
Contemporary sessions also seem to fit the bill for the teens and tweens (as compared for more formal backdrops or even black and white—though we can do contemporary black and white as well!) Kids seem to love contemporary because they can dress more casually, relax and have fun. Ready to book your child’s mini session?—call 719.475.0160 or email us for more info.
