That’s an email received recently at the studio. We get a lot of this: I just want..fill in the blank. Sometimes it’s someone trying to explain why they think the process should be cheaper and quicker because what they want is so simple. From “I just want a few headshots” to “I just want a disc of images” (and who uses CDs anymore in computers? Most newer computers have done away with the slot for CDs and DVDs).
I don’t know about you but I can’t really walk into a store such as Nordstrom’s or Macy’s and say “I just want..”(whatever it is) and try to get the item I want cheaper than the price listed.
Like many photography studios we create and sell art for your home. The art just happens to be of your family that you can enjoy every day on your walls. And like art the process is neither simple or cheap. Like shopping for art you often begin by approaching an art buyer or gallery and then telling them what type of art you are looking for. Our process is similar. With the exception of business headshots we sit down with you and visualize the concept for the session—who is being photographed, what style you are looking for, what clothing will be worn and what end product you desire. Is it an album of portraits of your high school senior? A beautifully framed family portrait for your wall? Or maybe a combination of products.
Next we schedule and have the session either in studio or on location. Afterwards we schedule a view and order appointment where you can make your selections. A week or so after your appointment you’ll come pick up your art which is ready to hang on your wall. We carefully plan your art from start to finish taking most all of the work out of the equation for you. The final product is a timeless piece of art that you can pass down to the next generation.
