Business Portraits in Colorado Springs-Beyond the Norm

You have heard me say repeatedly how important a great business portrait is. It really helps your brand and if you yourself are the brand (and in most cases you are) it’s of paramount importance to have a great image or two representing you online and in your marketing materials.

What do I mean by beyond the norm. Well there are several ways you can do a unique business portrait—you can go beyond the usual headshot for in studio portraits and do a 3/4 or full length shot. You could also do portraits with a prop—if you sell a product that is small enough to hold that usually works well. I’ve had realtors hold signs, haymakers hold hats and contractors wear a hard had and hold onto a set of plans.

Or you could do a location shot —environmental portrait either in a scenic locale or in your business environment. This was touched on in the previous post about how great promotional photographs can help your business grow.

An environmental portrait works well—giving a nice editorial feel to your portrait. It could be you solo or your team (as above).  If you work in an office you might not want a portrait of you there.  The above team are financial planners who work in a high rise—they chose the scenic beauty of Garden of the Gods over a sterile office. Some companies prefer a mix of a studio look and portraits at their location. Much of course does depend on your final use—if you want just a small shot for LinkedIn or Social media I’d recommend a head shot so people can see your face since those shots run so small. If you’re displaying the portrait on your website About page or in marketing materials a larger portrait, often 3/4 or full length can work well.
