Making The Most of Your Basic Headshot

Just because there are no true outfit changes with the basic headshot doesn’t mean you cannot get several different “looks” from your session. The key lies in planning.

Guys—brings an extra jacket to add to the looks. Then you can do one with tie no jacket, open collar no jacket, then tie with each jacket and open collar with each jacket. So without really changing you can get six different looks, in addition to different posing. You may change up ties if you have them looped and ready to wear.

Women- if you have long hair we can change up the looks just by changing how the hair is worn: all in front, all in back or split; or wearing it up. Adding a jacket over a blouse adds even more looks as does adding a scarf. You may also want to think of adding simple jewelry.

Both men and women—if you wear glasses we can do some photos with and some without. It’s really up to you. Some think they won’t like the portraits with glasses only to find those are the ones they like best. So it never hurts to give it a try.

There are many easy ways to change up the number of looks you can get from your headshot session. Coming prepared is the key. Having quick accessories to add into the photo works well.

Of course if you’d like to take your time and have multiple outfits you can choose a longer session. To get the most out of any of our sessions it’s good to plan ahead. Get a good night’s sleep, stay well hydrated and plan your session with plenty of time to get to the studio so you’re not stressed because you are running late. Bottom line if you feel relaxed you will look relaxed in your headshot.
