Going beyond a basic head and shoulder headshot for women there are multiple opportunities to get creative. Posing can be based on size—tall short thin not so thin. As well as age. Let’s face it an older woman would look silly in some poses we use for young women. You want them to look more mature and wise—stately even.

First off for women’s headshots we will work with you on wardrobe. We give advice to both men and women in this area. Solid colors are always best—you don’t want a bright distracting pattern taking away from your face in the portrait. Minimize jewelry for the same reason. Long or three quarter sleeves are best unless you’re a gym rat and have an awesome tan. Bring several outfit choices—especially for the larger headshot sessions where you get to change multiple times.

Before the session think about your hair—do you want to wear it up, down etc. Did you just get a haircut—if so wait a week or so before your headshots to look your best. We also offer hair and makeup services. You can book one of our recommended hair and makeup artists and they will come do their thing with you right here at the studio. If you prefer to do your own makeup we offer some extra powder to touch up upon arrival to remove the shine from your skin in the portraits.

Now as for posing we have many ways to help you get just the right look for you. We can try many poses and weed out those that you don’t like and emphasize those poses that do work well.
