5 Ways To Get Great Results From Your Headshot Session

Most people are not fond of having their photos taken. We get that. But if you do need a headshot there are some simple things that you can do to prepare so that you’ll have amazing results with your photos.

First get enough sleep—a few days out make sure you are getting enough sleep. If you are tired then you will look tired in the photo—no matter how much retouching we do. 

Second Make sure you hydrate. If you are drinking enough water—and that’s always something we have to do in our high desert climate—then your skin will look great.

Third Get good nutrition—it goes without saying that if you are run down due to a poor diet it will in turn reflect in your headshot.

Fourth Schedule your headshot at a time period when you are less likely to be stressed. Like being tired if you are rushing to your headshot and stressed for time you will look it in the photo.

Fifth Plan your wardrobe—if doing the basic headshot plan on bringing a few ties or an extra jacket. Women, bring a jacket or scarf to mix up the look. If you have longer hair maybe bring a tie to try some shots with your hair back or up. Bring outfit choices so you can easily change your mind day of your session. Be sure to bring a comb or brush and women—add in a little powder in case you need to remove shine from your face.

In addition to these 5 steps it’s good to manage your expectations. You can hire the best photographer possible but if you don’t communicate your desired look or pose you’ll be unhappy with the results.
