Actor Headshot Looks

Actor headshots are a bit different from business headshots and a long ways from a family portrait. We work with a lot of actors-both adults as well as children. An actor needs a series of great images for their book and we work  to help them achieve that.

If you are just starting out you might only need one image to submit to see if you are a good fit. Most times however, even beginning actors want a more rounded book to submit to acting schools, coaches as well as casting directors.

We offer an unlimited session (multiple backdrops and wardrobe changes) and packages of images if you need more than one. Images will be sized 8x10 at print resolution for those agents still requesting comp cards and we’ll produce a set of web sized images for online submissions. You’ll get a release for getting any prints made.

Showing off your different characters is key as is showing you in different styles of clothing. We shoot against a solid background with even lighting and often use tight crops so casting directors can quickly flip through images and see your face type. After all at least initially it’s all about the face.

There is a list of tips for acts getting headshots on this page:

Basically solid colors on clothing, little if no jewelry and little makeup.

Steer clear of clothing with graphics and branding logos.

We will produce for you two types of headshots unless otherwise specified: a theatrical and a commercial headshot. The theatrical is for stage and live productions while the commercial is not only for print and video advertising it is also for tv and film. Some actors already work in one particular genre and we’ll produce only images for that as requested.

It’s important to keep your book current—so if you’ve changed much—added or lost weight or hair changes then it’s time to update your book.

If you are an actor looking for more images for your book call or email with questions or click the booking button here to schedule your session.
