Taking Better Family Pictures

Extended families are easy to photograph at our spacious studio

This holiday season lots of family members will be all together in one place. This might be the perfect opportunity to get a great family portrait to have as a keepsake. Need a few pointers for creating your holiday photos?

Here are a few tips on taking better family pictures this holiday season:

-put the camera on a timer and set it on a tripod or study surface—making sure you first have the scene properly composed if you’re going to dash off and be in the portrait.

-allow plenty of room for all the gang (you don’t want to chop off heads or bodies!)

-for composition stagger heights so not everyone’s heads are on the same plane—don’t stack people too deep or those in the back might not be in good focus.

-have people wear similar tones of color but they don’t necessarily need to all dress the same.

-make sure there is plenty of light—the flash on your phone or camera might  to be quite enough so make sure the inside of the room is plenty bright or you may need to be outside,

-if outside in the sun make sure people aren’t facing directly into the sun and squinty—or that the sun is shining directly into your camera lens.

Sound like just too much work? Well, we’d be glad to do the job for you. If you have extended family coming to Colorado Springs this holiday season there are still a few portrait session times available on Saturday December 23rd and Saturday December 30th. Why not get a great professional portrait created of your loved ones- you never know when you’ll all be in the same place again.
