Actor and Model headshots are similar and yet different. Each has their own unique characteristics.
For acting there are many tips to prepare—go here to see a list
If you are planning on more than a single headshot you’ll want to bring plenty of clothing options to show off different looks. Even just a few items of clothing in a headshot can help convey a totally different vibe. Props such as a pair of glasses—even if you don’t normally wear them—can change your look. Styling your hair a bit for each photos can also help show a range of characters you might play. We’ll take care of matching the lighting and background to the mood you are conveying.
For modeling you want to make sure you have some strong images in your book. Somewhat like acting you want to show some range in looks and styles. For example you might want a business look, an evening gown or dressy suit/tux look and a casual look. You want to show a range of styles to catch the eye of an agency casting director.
In both acting and modeling you want a least one three quarter to full length shot to show body type. And here’s where they are more diverse. In acting headshots you want little to no makeup but with modeling you can get a full hair and makeup treatment.
Make sure that if you are already working with an acting or modeling agent or coach you let us know if they have any particular backgrounds or styling they need for the photos. Models—you can find our recommended hair and makeup stylists in the FAQ section here.
