Business Teams: Group Photos

If you have a business you most likely have photos of your staff, at least the officers of the company. More and more people want to know who they’re going to do business with before they even step foot into your business. So if you don’t have a group photo of your staff—or a current one—it’s time you did

This can be a photo of just the partners or the whole team—some companies prefer the entire staff approach to show the depth of their company. We can photograph your team on site with your office as the background or if it’s a smaller team you can come to the studio and we’ll get the group photograph. This works well for smaller groups like 8, 10 or fewer people.

We get asked a lot about taking photos of staff for companies.Depending on the number of staff and how you want to set it up we can make it convenient for you.

If you have a small team it might just be easier to schedule a time when you can all meet at the studio for a team photo. Just call us and we’ll find a time when you can all come to the studio.Or we can come to the location of your choice for this. If you schedule headshots at the same time the team portrait is at no additional cost.

Now if you have a very large team or staff and you want us to come on location we can bring our studio to your office or wherever you happen to be meeting with your team. Everyone who is there that day will get a headshot. We can also get team photos then as well—these are complimentary if we’re there doing headshots for your staff.

Don't Use Use Generic (Stock) Photos on Your Website

Why shouldn’t you use stock photos on your website—after all there are many to choose from—they’re really sharp and professionally lit and frankly can look great.

I'm not against using stock photography on occasion but I see some websites using it all the time and it concerns me. Why? Well there are a number of reasons but here are a few:

1. Using a broad range of photographs from different photographers and graphic artists doesn't reinforce your brand. It's an inconsistent look.

2. You aren't showing yourself or your staff or products and are missing out on the chance to familiarize people to YOU—which is the key to your business. Because people don't buy from companies, they buy the people who own or work for those companies.They purchase the brand.

3. Stock photography can look good—but almost too good—overly polished and frankly inauthentic.

If you have a business and have any kind of presence online—website, blog, social media etc, then you know how hard it can be to create original content. Many businesses pass this off to a company to handle it for them but often times that company will use generic stock photos that don’t really reflect your company.

So you really need to gather a pool of your own “stock” images to have on hand to feed the online content monster. How do you go about that? Sure you can try to remember to pull out your phone and capture what’s going on in your business—and maybe have your employees do this as well. But my guess is one of two things will happen—you and they will miss some great moments or you’ll spend so much time on this that you’ll neglect other important work.
